Spaghetti Printing
What you will need: cooked spaghetti, 2/3 colours of paint, bowls, forks, paper and a tray to put the paper in.
Divide you cooked spaghetti into the bowls and then add a big squirt of paint.
Mix it all in using your fork (or hands if you want to get really mucky!)
Now put the painty spaghetti onto the paper, twirl and swirl it around to make nice patterns.
Once you’ve done it with one colour, take it out and try it with another colour....
See how amazing the patterns look when you’re done!
Spring Lamb
You will need: A4 paper, cotton wool, pen/pencil, pink paint or crayon, glue.
First draw a big cloud shape in the middle of the paper.
Now, using lots of glue put cotton wool inside your cloud shape.
Draw 4 legs underneath & a small circle at one end of your lamb’s body.
Draw 2 big eyes inside this small circle for eyes and again put cotton wool all around the eyes with glue.
With your pink crayon draw 2 pink ears on your lamb.
Spring is finally here!!!
Mothers Day flower & pot
You will need: Jelly case, cake case & either a bigger or smaller one, straw, paper fastener, yoghurt pot, paper, tissue paper, paint & some old play dough, clay, plastercine & glue.
First put your cases inside each other with the biggest outside & smallest inside, you will need an adult to make a hole in the middle of them all.
With you paper fastener attach them together with the flat shiny bit at the front.
Put your straw up against the back of the biggest case (to be your stalk) and put the fastener through this too, (you will need an adult to make a hole in the top.) Now fold the fastener ends down flat.
If you have some tissue, glue this all scrunched up in the middle of your flower.
Decorate your yoghurt pot with stickers, or if you want to paint it then put some paper over the pot first (or the paint flakes off!)
Using your old play dough or similar put this into the pot and the stick your cases flower into it!
Snowflakes
What you need: white paper, scissors, (glitter/paint is optional)
First, find a plate/bowl or something round to fit your paper then draw around it.
Next, cut out the circle (if this is too tricky get your adult to help)
Now, fold your circle in half, then half again and if you can in half again!
Using your scissors, cut out some shapes, triangles, diamonds, squares etc... down the line of the fold.
You can do the same along the outside edge too if you want.
Once you’ve finished your cutting, open out your snow flake to see what wonderful patterns you have made.
You can add glitter with glue if you’ve got some or maybe paint your snow flake to add colour?
Air Drying Salt Dough
You will need: 2 cups of plain flour, 1 cup of table salt and 1 cup of water, rolling pin, cutters, paint to decorate.
Mix all the ingredient together in a bowl until your mixture in not sticky and you can roll it out with ease. Add more flour if too sticky or more water if not sticky enough!
On a floured surface roll out your salt dough with a rolling pin. Now using your cutters make lovely shapes/patterns, you can either make something free hand, like a monsters, a cat etc.... or maybe your name in big 3D letters!
Let your salt dough dry for at least 24 hours then paint/decorate to your taste!
The materials you need to do this are very inexpensive but commonly found in most kitchen cupboards! Enjoy! Great fun for a wet afternoon!
Paper Plate Holly Wreath
You will need: paper plate, green & red paint, piece of ribbon tied in a bow or a bow shape you would stick on a present, glue or sellotape.
First cut the middle section out of the paper plate so you are left with the ribbed edge all the way around.
Now using the red and green paint make little finger tip dots all over to make it look like holly and berries.
You can sprinkle with glitter if you’re brave enough!
Now at the bottom of your wreath glue or sellotape your bow or ribbon.
On the back of your plate at the top make a loop with string or left over ribbon, attach with sellotape so you can hang it on your front door for Christmas!
Clay Star Decoration
You will need: some air drying clay, small beads or shiny sweet wrappers chopped up very small, ribbon, star shaped pastry cutter, rolling pin & knife.
If you buy some air drying clay from the shops (ELC, Wilkinsons etc..) make into fist shape balls.
Now using a rolling pin roll out to about ¼ inch think on a flat surface.
If you have a Star shaped cutter this is brilliant, if not you can design your own star shape (with adult help),
With a pencil make a hole on the top of your star shape so you can hang it, but not too near the edge or it will break.
Using your beads or chopped up wrapper paper, push them into the clay lightly so as not to destroy the shape,
Thread your ribbon through the hole and tie in a knot, this will let you hang it on the tree.
It will take 24/48 hours to dry but once it’s done it will look amazing on your tree!
Potato Print Snowman Card
You will need: potatoes, white, red & black paint, dark (black or dark blue) card or paper (folded in half)
Chop your potato in half, one half will be the snowman body so leave plain, the other half cut 2 small circles in the middle for his eyes (you will need adult help for this bit!)
Now, cover your potato in white paint and stamp the body half on the bottom of the paper and the head part on top of this (this is the front of your card)
Using the black paint, put your finger tip in and then make 3 buttons going down the middle of the body part of your snowman, and then make finger prints for his mouth so they
Look like stones. You can paint him a hat for the top of his head and then with the red paint using your fingers again paint him a scarf for his neck flowing down his body!
You can add arms that look like sticks with finger painting too!
Again, sprinkle all over with glitter to make look like snow!
Yoghurt Pot Pumpkin
What you will need: yoghurt pot, string, black paper, orange tissue/crepe paper, glue
Wash out your yoghurt pot and put a hole in the top (you will need a grown up to do this)and put your string through the hole then get your grown up to tie a knot in it.
Out of your black paper cut 3 small triangles and cut or rip your tissue into small bits.
Here’s the messy bit: put glue all over the outside of your yoghurt pot.
Next, cover your pot in orange tissue/crepe paper so you can’t see the pot anymore.
Now add 2 triangle eyes and a triangle nose too, now you have a hanging pumpkin to decorate your house with. Why not make lots and lots....
Autumn Collage
On a nice dry day go for a walk and collect lots of leaves, twigs, acorns anything you like the look of.
Once home get a piece of paper and glue. Just add lots of glue to the paper and stick down all your autumn bits you’ve collected!
They look amazing....
Bubble Blowing
Mix some paint, washing up liquid and water together in a container (ice cream container would do)
Now with a straw, you must BLOW really hard to make bubbles come to the top of the container (add more washing up liquid if you need to)
Place a piece of paper on the top and see what pretty patterns it makes, try with a few different colours.
Please remember to BLOW not suck as it tastes horrible!!!
Pasta Collage
Have some fun with a rice/pasta/pulses collage. Take a piece of paper, and a pencil, and draw a pattern, or lots of squiggles, all over the page. Put a few bowls on the table, filled with some rice, and small pieces of pasta, or lentils and other pulses in different colours. Glue in the spaces within the pattern, and stick on the rice/pasta/pulses, to ‘colour in’ the picture. Another idea would be to write your name in large letters on the page, cover the letters in glue, and stick on the rice/pasta/pulses. If you do this on a piece of card, you could stick it to the door of your bedroom.
Another great fun idea is car rolling. You will need some paper, a tray or large plate with some paint in it (not too much), and some toy cars or tractors (or anything else with wheels!). Roll the car wheels in the paint, then roll over the paper. If you use several colours, you end up with a great pattern.
