Things to consider when choosing a Nanny

Personality - Does she or he have a warm and caring personality do they clearly like looking after children. How do they behave with your child/children?

Day to day - How would they look after/entertain and encourage your baby/childs development? Would they attend playgroups, music groups? Would they keep a day diary?

Meal times - Will they make and feed your child with healthy and nutritious food, snacks and drinks? Have they weaned a baby before?

Behaviour - What's their policy on dealing with behaviour both good and bad? Do they believe in positive praise for effort as well as achievement?

Qualifications & experience - What qualifications do they have? Ask them about their previous experience and the ages of the children that they looked after. Do they have experience of looking after one child or multiples? How long have they been a nanny? Have they been CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked?

First Aid - Does the nanny have up to date first aid and life saving training and certificates?

References - Written references are good but you also need to speak to a previous parent and a current one, if you are looking at a nanny share.
